Happy Christmas to us all, if not original, it is sincere. Being asked what you want for Christmas when you have reached a certain age makes me think. Here is my answer. One wish is private and enduring. The other is this.
To quickly build on the insights and visions of England’s long term future. Bit fluffy? Actually no. This year the vast majority of politicians, professionals and commentators who are concerned about the conflict between those who want to retain the status quo, and those who favour change are now several times more aware than they were a year ago there are unresolved challenges to be faced and to be overcome. This is good. It is a form of progress. It matters. In the past this awareness matured at a glacial speed. No longer and I welcome the fact that so many have put their foot on their accelerator in 2024.
Finding answers, finding where the tilting point falls, takes time. Doing so in the appropriate way is the only means to wisdom. And resolving the housing debate in England needs a lot of wisdom. Have a good 2025.
