Local communities must learn to Grow Up

The Levelling Up,Housing and Communities Committee worries the new bill means levelling is just a slogan. Nothing will happen until local councils find the confidence to lead they lost two generations ago. Levelling up is the name childish leaders like to use to replace policy with a slogan. Then fly over to Kyiv for the day. It is so much easier than facing the domestic evidence of 12 years of policy failure. Gesture politics will not mend a broken housing supply system. Local leaders need to stop fighting one another about short term trivia, and start working together for long solutions they can deliver in their areas. It is called strategic planning. It leads to sustainable solutions.
